Sharing Best Practices and Lessons Learned in Court Modernization and Automation

Jordan 2004

The Ministry of Justice in Jordan (MOJ) has begun automation of its judicial system. Drawing upon DPK’s similar experience in the West Bank and Gaza, DPK shared best practices related to human resources and training at the request of USAID. Specifically, DPK provided the following assistance:

Organizational Strengthening/Human Resources Development
DPK worked with the MOJ on organizational and human resources development for both the MOJ staff and the courts. DPK helped draft detailed job descriptions and identify job requirements (in terms of skills, technical qualifications, and experience) needed for automation. DPK provided the MOJ with best practices adopted in the West Bank and Gaza and advised on the specific positions and related job descriptions needed for an efficient and effective automated court.

Case Coding
DPK assisted the MOJ in analyzing case types and developing classifications for civil and criminal cases.

Training
DPK offered technical asssitance in developing a pilot training program for 60 employees of the MOJ in basic computer skills training; and computer applications training, including Microsoft Office applications. Activities included assistance in designing a pilot training program. DPK worked with the MOJ to identify and commission a local IT training institution to deliver the training. Based on training results, a revised training program and plan was finalized and rolled out to the remaining MOJ staff.
