Promoting Transparent Systems for Accountable Governance of Key Public Institutions

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 2009 - 2011

DPK is working with its ARD, Inc., counterparts in implementing this USAID project to improve access to public information, public procurement processes, and internal control systems. DPK is working to increase access to public information by ensuring that Freedom of Information Offices and their officers have sufficient political and budgetary support. The project is improving transparency and competitiveness in government procurements by assisting the National Office of Procurement, the Comptroller General, and targeted line ministries to follow and promote transparent bidding and award procedures.

Promoting Modernization Reforms with the Justice Sector

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 2008 - 2011

DPK, as principal subcontractor to the USAID Justice Project, is providing technical assistance in the implementation of reforms prioritized by the Dominican justice system institutions. The project is working to improve the judiciary's technical and management capacity to process critical cases. The project is also helping to establish mechanisms that strengthen internal and external oversight of justice sector reform and operations; designing and implementing activities that enhance the independence and impartiality of justice institutions, particularly the Judiciary and the Public Ministry; and is promoting coordination among justice sector actors. The project also manages a grant to a local NGO to support the sustainability of Community Justice Houses.

Strengthened Rule of Law and Respect for Human Rights, and Enhanced Public Sector Anticorruption Systems

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 2003 - 2008

The project combined two integrated areas of activity: rule of law and anticorruption. The rule of law component focused on assisting the justice system earn the confidence of citizens by delivering independent, effective, and ethical justice, administered by impartial, highly qualified justice professionals. The anticorruption component served to strengthen those public sector institutions that can help discover, investigate, and prosecute corruption cases. The anticorruption component drew to a close Summer 2006, while the rule of law component was extended through Spring 2008.

Program to Increase Transparency of Public Management

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 1999 - 2000

The primary focus of the project was to assist in the institutional strengthening of the Attorney General's Department of Prevention and Corruption. DPK assisted the executive branch to develop the first anticorruption plan for the country, developed specific anticorruption plans for the Foreign Ministry, Education Office, Social Security Office, and the Procudaria General.
